Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Ministry began in March, 2006. The first shawl
was prayerfully given to Carol Bower. Eighty-nine (89) shawls have been
created and given through August, 2008. The Prayer Shawl Ministry
provides shawls to those who are experiencing illness and loss and
distress. Shawls have also been provided to members moving away, and
have been sent to Hurricane Katrina victims in Mississippi.
Some shawls are being made for service men and women serving in Iraq.
Anyone is welcome to knit or crochet a shawl, and yarn is available to
be used. Requests to receive a shawl can be made to the church office or
any group member. Linda Rentschler, Barbara Davis, Rita Henning and Elsa
Heintzelman try to keep things organized.
The cards that accompany the shawls say that they are made with prayers
and love. The card closes with "When you wrap the shawl around you,
please know that you are enfolded in the loving arms of God." That says
it all.
